Who we are

RealHelp Therapy is an Ontario psychotherapy and education practice. This policy explains how we handle information collected through this public website. Clinical records and information collected through the Jane App are handled separately under the practice's clinical privacy obligations.

We follow applicable Canadian privacy law, including PIPEDA, Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation, and Ontario's Personal Health Information Protection Act where it applies.

Information we collect

We collect information you provide directly and information that is generated when you use our site or services.

• Inquiry information: your name, email address, selected service, and anything you choose to include in a message
• Resource subscription information: first name, email address, language, consent date, source, and consent wording version
• Website analytics: pages viewed, anonymous visit identifier, approximate country or Ontario city, referral source, language choice, and actions such as booking or resource-signup clicks
• Technical and security information needed to deliver the site, prevent abuse, and diagnose errors

How we use your information

We use personal information only for purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances, including:

• Responding to inquiries and helping you identify an appropriate service or next step
• Providing requested reflection resources
• Sending educational emails only when you have expressly opted in
• Operating, securing, and improving the website
• Measuring aggregate website and referral performance without storing therapy-session content
• Meeting legal, professional, accounting, and regulatory requirements

Email consent

Submitting a therapy or service inquiry does not subscribe you to marketing emails. Educational emails require a separate, unticked opt-in. We record when and how that consent was provided.

Every commercial email will identify RealHelp Therapy and include a working unsubscribe method. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting access to psychotherapy or other services.

Sharing and service providers

We do not sell personal information. We may use trusted providers for website hosting, analytics, email delivery, secure clinical booking, and business operations.

When we use service providers, we require them to protect personal information appropriately and use it only to perform services for us. Some providers may process data in Canada or other countries. Where information is transferred outside Canada, it may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions.

Retention

We retain inquiry information only as long as reasonably needed to respond and meet legal or professional obligations. Newsletter consent records are kept while you are subscribed and as needed to demonstrate compliance. Anonymous or aggregated analytics may be retained longer.

Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect against unauthorized access, use, disclosure, and loss.

Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask for corrections, or inquire about our privacy practices. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, where personal health information is involved, the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario.

Children

The newsletter and public inquiry forms are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect children's information for marketing. A parent, guardian, or authorized adult should submit inquiries about youth-related educational programming.
